How to Transform and Recolor PNG Images for Your Wix Blog
Adding custom graphics to your blog posts not only enhances the visual appeal but also helps in communicating your message more effectively. However, if you're using Wix to manage your blog, you might have noticed that it doesn't support SVG files directly in posts. No worries! In this guide, I'll show you how to change the color of PNG graphics by converting them to SVG for editing, and then converting them back to JPEG for easy uploading to your Wix blog.
Why Convert PNG to SVG?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files offer many
advantages over traditional PNG files, primarily due to their scalability and editability. Unlike PNGs, SVGs can be easily manipulated without loss of quality, making them perfect for customizing colors and styles to match your blog's theme.
Converting PNG to SVG
To convert your PNG images to SVG, you can use online converters that are both efficient and simple to use. Websites like OnlineConvertFree, Convertio, and SVG Creator allow you to upload your PNG files and convert them to SVG format within minutes. These platforms provide a user-friendly interface that makes the process straightforward, even for those with little to no technical expertise.

Editing Colors in SVG Format
Once your image is in SVG format, you can edit its colors. For this task, Vector Magic is an excellent choice. It's a powerful tool designed specifically for converting raster images to vector formats. Vector Magic offers both an online and a desktop version, allowing you to choose the platform that best fits your needs. Its intuitive controls enable you to easily select and change colors, ensuring high-quality results that align perfectly with your visual branding.
Converting SVG to JPEG
After recoloring your SVG image, the next step is to convert it back to a format that Wix supports—JPEG. This can be done using the same online tools you used for the initial conversion. These tools typically offer the option to export your edited SVGs as JPEG files, ready to be uploaded to your blog.
Optimizing and Uploading to Wix
Before uploading the JPEG to your Wix blog, it's important to optimize the image for web use. This means reducing the file size without significantly compromising on quality, ensuring your blog loads quickly for all users. Once optimized, you can upload the JPEG file directly to your Wix blog post through the Wix editor. See our blog post The Importance of Image Optimization for Wix: Maximizing Storage Efficiency.
Example: Recoloring a Canva PNG Graphic
Let's walk through an example of transforming a Canva PNG graphic with green and blue colors into a more vibrant design using yellow and bright blue. This example will help illustrate the process from start to finish.
Step 1: Convert the PNG to SVG
Go to an online converter like Convertio.
Upload your PNG file downloaded from Canva.
Select SVG as the output format and click ‘Convert’.
Download the converted SVG file once the process is complete.
Step 2: Edit the Colors
Open Vector Magic and upload your newly converted SVG file.
Use the color selection tool to pick the green areas of your image.
Change these to a bright yellow by adjusting the color settings.
Next, select the blue areas and change them to a bright blue to complement the yellow.
Fine-tune the image to ensure the edges are smooth and the colors are evenly distributed.
Step 3: Convert the SVG to JPEG
Once you’re satisfied with the color changes, it’s time to convert the file back to a JPEG.
Use the same online converter or another preferred tool.
Upload the edited SVG and select JPEG as the output format.
Convert and download the final JPEG file.
Step 4: Optimize and Upload to Wix
Before uploading, ensure the JPEG file size is optimized for web use, which can be done using an image compression tool.
Log in to your Wix account, navigate to your blog post editor, and insert the image where it fits best in your content.

I noticed I can't upload M2TS images to this site, to be honest it's frustrating that not all formats are supported. In that case I had to use M2TS converter to convert to a suitable format.
It would be cool if the developers added the ability to support rarer formats.
