What Happened with Autoplay and Sound for your Music and Videos on Your Wix Website?
We get many questions about why videos on Wix websites don't automatically play or if they play why not with sound? Follow along to get a better understanding of why that is the case.
Since about a year, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox no longer support audio on autoplay on desktop, tablets, and mobile.
To autoplay video or music, your site visitors need to change the settings in their own browsers.
Chrome's autoplay policies are as following:
Muted autoplay is always allowed.
Autoplay with sound is allowed if: - User has interacted with the domain (click, tap, etc.). - On desktop, the user has previously played video with sound. - On mobile, the user has added the site to their home screen.
Safari's and Firefox's policies are similar.

The fact that a video or music track doesn't automatically play has nothing to do with the settings in Wix.
If a video on your site is set to autoplay, but you didn't mute the sound, then the video won't automatically play in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox unless your site visitor changed the settings in their own browser.
To autoplay videos, you have to mute the sound.
It is not possible to autoplay videos with sound.
It is not possible to autoplay music tracks.
Why did they do this?
The stricter autoplay policies are basically there to reduce user annoyance and to guide website designers to create an experience that respects a user's choice. In addition these stricter policies minimize the installation of ad blockers and reduce data consumption.
